CANADIAN EXPRESS ENTRY SYSTEM
Canada is a land of opportunity for those looking to explore possibilities in a foreign country. It has opened its doors for Skilled Professionals / Workers beginning 1st January 2015 by launching the Express Entry System for managing Work Visa and Canada Permanent Residency applications.
The procedure is simple, and applications are processed at a faster pace. The good news is that most of the occupations are covered under the Canada skilled worker visa or immigration program, and it is also open for all working professionals. In addition, the professions which are listed under the NOC (National Occupation Classification) O, A & B can also apply under this new system.
A process based on a selection where applicants will be chosen based on merit and various factors like English Language Ability (IELTS), Age, Education, Experience, etc. Once the applicant is selected, the applicant will be invited to file the case for Permanent Residency. Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) will process the visa in a maximum time of 6 months.
FEDERAL SKILLED WORKER PROGRAM (EXPRESS ENTRY)
This program is for skilled workers with foreign work experience who want to immigrate to Canada permanently.
The minimum requirements for this program are:
- Professional work experience: Have at least 1-2 years of experience in any one of Canada’s National Occupational Classification (NOC) job lists.
- Managerial jobs (skill type 0)
- Professional careers (skill level A)
- Technical jobs and skilled trades (skill level B)
- Language ability: Need to prove you have good writing, reading, listening, and speaking skills by taking one of the approved language tests in English or French.
- Education: Need completed degree/program certificates, Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) for immigration purposes from a designated organization showing that your education is equal to a completed certificate, diploma, or degree from a Canadian
Selection factors
You will be assessed based on the below factors, and these factors are part of a 100-point grid used to determine eligibility for the Federal Skilled Worker Program. You earn points for how well you do in each of the six factors. The current pass mark is 67 points.
- Age – up to 12 points
- Education – up to 25 points
- Work Experience – up to 15 points
- Language Skills – up to 28 points
- Arranged Employment – up to 10 points
- Adaptability – up to 10 points
FEDERAL SKILLED TRADES PROGRAM (EXPRESS ENTRY)
The Federal Skilled Trades Program is for skilled workers who want to become permanent residents based on being qualified in a skilled trade.
The minimum requirements for this program are:
- Skilled work experience: Have at least two years of experience in any one of Canada’s National Occupational Classification (NOC) job lists. Skilled trades for the Federal Skilled Trades Program are organized under these groups of the National Occupational Classification (NOC):
- Major Group 72, industrial, electrical, and construction trades
- Major Group 73, maintenance and equipment operation trades
- Major Group 82, supervisors and technical jobs in natural resources, agriculture, and related production
- Major Group 92, processing, manufacturing, and utilities supervisors and central control operators
- Minor Group 632, chefs and cooks
- Minor Group 633, butchers and bakers
- Language ability: Need to prove you have good writing, reading, listening, and speaking skills by taking one of the approved language tests in English or French.
- Education: There is no education requirement for the Federal Skilled Trades Program.
